أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ١
Competition for worldly gains distracts you [from Allah],

بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
أَلۡهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ ١
Competition for worldly gains distracts you [from Allah],
حَتَّىٰ زُرۡتُمُ ٱلۡمَقَابِرَ ٢
until you come to your graves.
كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٣
No indeed! You will come to know.
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَ ٤
Again no! You will come to know.
كَلَّا لَوۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ عِلۡمَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٥
No indeed! If only you knew for certain[1].
[1] The conclusion of this verse, "...you would not have been distracted from preparing for the Hereafter by wealth and children."
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ ٦
You will surely see the Blazing Fire,
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيۡنَ ٱلۡيَقِينِ ٧
Again, you will see it with absolute certainty.
ثُمَّ لَتُسۡـَٔلُنَّ يَوۡمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ ٨
Then on that Day you will surely be asked about your worldly pleasures[2].
[2] i.e., of health and wealth and other comforts of the worldly life.
